    Reefer71's 240 Gal Part 2

    Hello Everyone,

    This site has quieted down, what happened?

    I popped over to give an update to the tank and found the thread has been closed.

    Hard to believe its been 4 years now.



    The Good:
    LEDZeal lights have worked flawlessly for 4 years and couldn't be happier with them.
    Reeflo pump has worked with no issues except for a pump seal change a couple times - LOVE these pumps.

    I have been using the JEBAO Wavemakers for years now and they have just started to make some sounds so I just replace them with Quiet Pumps, hopefully they work as well as the Jebaos.

    Fish have done well

    Corals have not

    I joined the group back in November, have not seen much chatter online.

    Tank looks fun! I Couldnt imagine trying to maintain a 240. Have you had smaller set ups before? What do you find to be the biggest challenge to keeping corals?

    Itís really not that bad to keep up.
    I started 20 years ago and have had many smaller setups.
    Had the octopus tanks, stingray tank, many different kinds.

    I have around 500 gallons of water between the 3 tanks.

    Hard to keep corals happy.
    Nitrates are the death of them.

    Tank looks good!

    We had to do some site updates and still have more to go. This could be part of the reason your older thread was closed. FB steals a lot of the local online traffic these days.

    hope all has been going well for you.

    I still struggle with keeping SPS as it always is a battle.
    I went B.B. for awhile and ended up putting sand back in.

    Need to get my water straightened out and then I’m gonna go looking for more SPS.

    Yes I finally have my water parameters to preferred levels.

    Only issue I have now is the consumption of Alk/Cal that is being dosed is causing the sand bed to become hard.
    I added more powerheads and work the sand each water change to try and stop the problem.
